Do this for all file sequence replacements. I've modified the Red channel in that media2 node with a Shake Modifier, making sure every frame is different and needs to be rendered. Fusion can fill up 200MB faster than you can say "argh". With higher percentages like that I'd also increase the Leave at least setting. When Fusion is the only application running on your system - at any time - you may risk that, but in my experience you're bound to go into swap at some point with a setting like that, and then you'll really know what slow means. I'd be careful with setting your RAM limit to 100%.

Turn on Simultaneous branching - it means that Fusion will try to render multiple branches of your comp in parallel, rather than waiting for nodes to be rendered before going to the next one, in a more serial manner.

Better to base your workflow on something like EXR. You mentioned PNG, that can be a bit of a resource/IO hog, especially at higher compression rates. As I said, I got to about 7-10 already with your demo setup, and that was on a not especially optimized laptop with a Core i7, 16GB of RAM and a Geforce GTX 850M. (I tried to set the output to JPEG and pre-render this but the latest version just seems to crash out for me when I do this)Īm I doing something wrong or is this just the nature of the beast? I appreciate Fusion is power hungry so this this something I am going to have to get used to? Now I have experienced nodes I can't go back to layers but any tips of getting better performance would be appreciated.ġ2-13 fps seems low to me. I have tried a disk cache (to my second drive) but that seems to only increase my playback speed to around 8FPS so isn't really worth the effort. I have HQ and MB turned off, proxy and auto proxy turned on and my proxy mode set to half.ĭespite all this I get about 5-7 FPS when caching this into RAM.ĭoes this seem normal? Using AE or Hitfilm I get near perfectly smooth playback even when caching the same comp in these programs.

I am doing a fairly simple comp in Fusion, compositing a PNG sequence over some other footage with some drop shadows in etc.
